Retreat (Tun)
Tun – Retreat: Positive power keeps back, negative yin energy forwards. This is a natural process, but it’s not the best time for improvement. By retreating no charges can be made against us. Spiritually advanced people know what the best reaction in certain situations is. When you have to give up power, status, money or something else, you shall not hesitate to do so. If we stick to the current situation bad luck awaits us. The lines of the sign show the certain possibilities of withdrawal.
I Ching Hexagrams – Retreat: meaning of the lines
Line 1: Danger is here. The more we wait the more difficult it will be to avoid it. The only way to minimalize the danger is to act as soon as possible to solve the problem.
Line 2: Flexibility helps to solve our problems now. We can’t avoid difficulties but outer tenderness and inner strength can help dealing with bad circumstances.
Line 3: The line is in connection with the moving negative forces. Insisting on status and fame make us vulnerable. It’s better to keep away from public affairs and stay with our close family.
Line 4: What seems to be sweet is poisonous. Though temptation is big, it’s worth retreating. We can only win with strong morality.
Line 5: Although the line is in a leading (decisive) position, retreat is the right thing to do. Stay calm or huge difficulties are expected.
Line 6: The line denotes a wise person who can retire at an easy pace. He/she has enough time and space to leave problems behind. However, it’s important to use this available time for self-improvement and meditation.
