I Ching Hexagrams – The Cauldron: meaning of the lines
Line 1: The cauldron lurches so it’s easy to clean it. This means that although the situation seems unlucky, with a helping hand that makes balance it can have a good outcome.
Line 2: Though it’s important to clean the cauldron the real job is the cooking itself. We have been tempted but we have to resist.
Line 3: Although everything is given for success we are burning hot. Cool down the food before we eat it.
Line 4: There is too much food in the cauldron, it can’t all be cooked. Those who are too proud, arrogant and have too much false information won’t be able to find the proper balance.
Line 5: A well-set lid and tong result in a delicious food. We are in a lucky period and we are on the right track. However, it’s important to constantly control the process.
Line 6: The food is done; it’s time to serve it. Proper guiding brings luck.
