Three of Swords: general, standing and reversed meaning 2017-04-05T08:14:00+00:00

Three of Swords, general description

Three of Swords is the 61st card of the Major Arcana. It is part of Fatecaster’s Tarot card list that summarizes the Rider Waite Tarot cards’ meaning.

According to its illustrations, this card can easily be interpreted unilaterally or hastily as an incarnation of painful experiences, especially lovesickness. And although this is an important side-aspect of the card, it’s not its main message. The most important meaning of Three of Swords is a decision made despite the emotions.

Whether it refers to a certain action or to liberation can only be decided by taking into consideration the background of the question and the other cards. If despotic intellect suppresses emotions the message of the card should be considered. However, when we free from an addiction or from the prison of dubious habits by the power of our intellect the card refers to a necessary step.
